Winner Announcement
We’re blown away by the creativity in reimagining Din Tai Fung’s Bao Bao during Lunar New Year of the Snake—thank you to everyone who submitted their artwork! From the playful drawings of our youngest artist at 4 years old, to AI-generated designs and intricate illustrations, it’s been incredible to see such diverse interpretations.
As we prepare to open our Canary Wharf restaurant on the 26th of February, we’re excited to announce the winner after a thorough internal review. The winner of this competition is…

Winner of Artwork Competition: Yap_Pau_Ling
Artwork Type: Chinese Calligraphy
Name: 🧧🥟🐍🪭 Din Tai Fung • Happy Snake Year • 鼎泰丰 • 蛇年如意 🪭🐍🥟🧧
Submission Description: I am thrilled to showcase a display of traditional Chinese ink painting and calligraphy on festive red paper, commonly celebrated during Chinese New Year. This artwork features Din Tai Fung’s Bao Bao playing the flute for a dancing snake as it emerges from a bamboo steamer.
Accompanying the drawing is an original couplet (a traditional festive two-verse poetry) composed by me, which translates as follows:
“Soaring dragon spreads fragrant dumplings, Din Tai Fung’s delight;
Dancing snake gathering treasure, business thrives with might”
Notably, the poem cleverly integrates Bao Bao’s name, “dumpling-treasure”, as the third word in each verse. Additionally, I have also ensured that the beginning of each verse reflects the animals of successive years in the Chinese zodiac, starting with the dragon and followed by the snake. Lastly, it highlights Din Tai Fung and its signature fragrant dumplings! I can’t wait to visit the new Canary Wharf branch! Yummy! 🥟😋😍

We were drawn to Yap_Pao_Ling’s piece for its deep cultural significance and exquisite craftsmanship. The fusion of traditional Chinese ink painting and calligraphy on festive red paper perfectly captures the spirit of both Din Tai Fung and the Lunar New Year. The original couplet, cleverly weaving in Bao Bao’s name while symbolising Lunar New Year of the Snake, adds a poetic touch.
